picture this... you just came into a room. You know nothing about the environment and no one around you except you feel a presence of love when you're joined with your mother who bonded and carried you for months. You're taken from her, your tiny legs and arms are pulled straight forcefully and tied down to a cold table. Where is your warm cuddly mother? Who are these cold people with the scary paper on their faces? What is that thing he has in his hand-"woah! That feels even colder and kind of makes me want to cry. OUCH that DOES make me cry! I want my mommy! When is this going to stop?! Am I dying? What is all of this pain? What's that red stuff pouring out of the penis that was fully functioning? This hurts! Please stop. Whatever this is, why does this even matter? That is my skin... a part of me... that functions to protect my glans from drying, getting irritated, and just as the eyelids protect the eyes, the foreskin protects the glans and keeps its surface soft, moist, and sensitive." The figure that was just pulling on your body, just took away functioning skin from your penis. You have known no pain and are too young for pain reliever dosage that would help relieve a little of it. Instead, they give you sugar water on a pacifier which most likely effect your latch when they finally return you to the warm mother that you feel abandoned by. You're in such shock that you sleep for a while also from exhaustion. Why did your mommy do that when it was not needed?
I just hope that if the parents that choose to cut their children, they know about EVERY part of it. I did not make a very educated decision. The reason that I am posting and commenting and expressing concern is because I did not know before I had my son cut. I thought that MOST guys were cut, that intact was different. I didn't want my baby to be different. I also thought that uncut was dirty and when I had an intact partner, felt awkward at first about it. Now, I have learned more about it and it's just NOT the decision I would have wanted to make FOR my son.. but I did. I'm sure he won't hate me for doing it. I'm coming to terms with my ignorance and not blaming myself as much.
I am all for giving parents their own right to do what they want with their children. If they BAN circumcision, there will be more deaths of babies because of desperate people thinking that babies NEED/HAVE to be circumcised. There's too much on the news of that crap! People stealing and robbing others just to pay for Circs... which is stupid. If the insurance companies are stopping funding on them... doesn't that give you an idea that it's not necessary? I'd think so.
It's like my friend said a few days ago... morally, babies deserve their own voices.. even unborn babies... but if the government takes the right to choose away, desparity will happen.
I will never support it for my future children, but I've had conversations with a couple of people that have done it, feel guilty, and fight their hardest to make their decision logical and right...to try to rid themselves of the guilt. It's sad. If those who choose do to it to their sons and daughters.. which daughters are now protected legally from it, and they know all about it and still decide, then that's their choice. I never say that those people are wrong. That will never come from my fingertips or mouth.
